A colonial holodeck adventure is interrupted when Engineer Fassbinder and Counselor Whitman seize control of Deck 14 and with it, the auxiliary bridge. A half-hearted power struggle ensues, and Lt. Cola puts together her first security team, made up Lt. Watson, who wants to remind everyone that he's only qualified to do science stuff. Its revealed that the Sisyphus may be haunted by the ghost of a Vulcan officer who died on Deck 14 twenty years previously, and Capt. Baxter and Cmdr. Hayes discuss the spookiest planets they've encountered. Japhy and Fritz use their control of the aux. bridge to therapeutically broadcast their darkest secrets to the galaxy, and Computer is increasingly caught in the middle of the conflict due to Japhy's authority to relieve people of command. In a final confrontation the senior officers rush the auxiliary bridge to sieze control, and find it reeking of Romulan weed. It turns out Japhy was only going along with the mutiny so he could protest against it, and for the therapeutic value it provided. Fritz however has been possessed by the vengeful Vulcan spirit, and must be restrained until the ghost can be beamed out of his body into space. Japhy is knocked unconscious in the struggle and it is decided to let him sleep it off.
