The USS Sisyphus is suffering from a complete systems lock down and Computer, the ship's sentient computer, is incommunicado(though a chipper back-up program called Cousin Computer is happy to help in anyway he can). With nothing to do and no immediate threat Commander Hayes and Counselor Japhy convince Captain Baxter to stop running drills(he has added White Alert to the standard Starfleet color system) and take the opportunity to work on crew morale. He schedules a mandatory Hang-out in Starboard's, the ship's bar, which Lt.Cmdr Watson and Lt. Cola try to avoid with a medical excuse from Dr "McCloud". They fail, but take advantage of Cousin Computer to replicate some antique contraceptives, which Computer refuses to do and which Watson and Cola prefer to the standard Starfleet practice of phasering oneself in the junk. At the Starboard's Hang-out the senior crew soon settle on a game of Truth or Dare; Dr. "Foggy" aerates someone and Cmdr. Hayes admits he's seen some nasty stuff on away missions. Counselor Japhy storms out when he realizes the crew haven't been coming to him with their personal problems and a troubled Captain Baxter calls the meeting off. Japhy holes himself up in his quarters and makes balloon animals with the prophylactics he stole from Cola & Watson, but one by one crew members unsettled from the Truth or Dare game wander in for guidance. The counselor is ecstatic to be solving problem and at his suggestion Hayes and Baxter bond on a holodeck adventure based on the ancient Earth religious parable The Matrix(until Baxter takes the Blue Pill). But Watson's admission that he can't imagine anyone loving him leads to a distraught Lt. Cola running off near tears, forcing everyone to reiterate her interest to the oblivious Crick. As the lockdown nears its end tension permeates the bridge, until Captain Baxter declares an Amber Alert to find a missing child below decks. He sends Cola & Watson to look for the child together, only admitting after they're gone that the alert is a hoax.
