Equipment breakdowns are undermining the USS Sisyphus's ability to investigation a mysterious tachyon cloud, until a duplicate Chief Engineer Fassbinder appears and resolves the ship's maintenance backlog. Other doubles are soon spotted over the ship, and Captain Baxter order Science Officer Watson to determine their source. Baxter then orders the rest of the crew to join him for a drink in Starboards, confident that vital duties can be covered by their doubles and the ship's Computer. Watson and the two Fassbinders determine that ship has drifted into the tachyon cloud and the clones are actually versions of the crew from their own past or future. They make their report to the well-lubricated senior staff who have been swapping stories about doubles and times anomalies. Baxter departs the bar determined to find his double and have sex with himself, unaware that such an act could destroy the universe. Meanwhile, Future Fritz's missing accent and other differences between the crew and their otherselves begins raising questions about the futures of the Sisyphus crew. Cybernetic Winslow Heffington III, LtCmdr Watson, Female LtCmdr Watson, Cmdr Hayes, and Cmdr Hayes From Two Seconds in the Past meet to find the Captain before his apocalyptic self-sexing, but Baxter arrives and announces he can't find his copy. Helmsman Heffington, himself a sometimes time traveler, realizes that the clones they're encountering are not actually from their past or future, but illusions of the past & future caused by tachyon interference in the brain. Taking a chance, the crew tests his theory by touching their supposed doubles, and reality begins to reassert itself. The situation is downgraded from time rupture to space madness, and the Captain retires to his quarters to follow through on his ambitions.
